    Funding change and changing funding: what we’ve learnt from the first two years of Propel

    It’s been five years since 67 funders came together to give out over 3000 grants to support the communities hardest hit by the pandemic, through the London Community Response. Investing over £57m, funders prioritised  groups led by and for communities experiencing racial inequity, LGBT+ communities, Deaf and Disabled people, women and girls.The London Community Response showed us that collaboration at pace and scale is possible. It also showed us that when funders and community groups come together to pool their knowledge, funding and experience, we can make lasting change.

    London Funders announce the Farnsworth Fellowship

    We are incredibly grateful to David Farnsworth who has stepped down after serving as London Funders’ Chair for nine years. David is the Managing Director of City Bridge Foundation and leaves a lasting legacy for London Funders, having supported the organisation to deliver a number of ground-breaking funder collaborations during his tenure including the funder response to the Grenfell Tower fire, the London Community Response to covid-19, and more recently supporting Propel and establishing the Collaboration Circle, a new space for pooled funds.

    Demand for Equity & Justice Infrastructure

    Earlier this year, we embarked on a project to map the current state of funding for equity and justice infrastructure. While some efforts have been made to better evidence the scale and funding of more generic forms of infrastructure support, we still lack understanding about the infrastructure sector specifically for equity and justice organisations. This project will improve our understanding of the current funding position of the sector and the needs they are seeking to address.
