Place is all around us, and as a concept can be central to the way we think about funding for London’s communities. Beyond just the geography of London’s boroughs, our understanding of Place is about the relationships, experiences and systems that interact and bring about change within our communities.
We’ve long been supporters of Place Based Giving. Based on the notion that we all have something to give- whether that be time, skills, expertise or money – place based giving schemes bring communities together to channel those resources into aligned action and build a better borough for everyone.
In the capital, London Funders is currently supporting the development of place-based giving schemes across more than 20 boroughs. The support that London Funders offers is responsive and tailored to the needs of our network and the environment they operate in. To read more, head to London’s Giving website.
Alongside our work on place based giving we support collaboration via our local funder networks, and contribute to the national and global conversation about the importance of place, citizen voice and cross-sector partnership to systems change. We want to provide the space for longer-term, strategic thinking around place. In 2021, we launched our Advisory Group on Place, a space we’re facilitating to provoke discussion among funders and civil society about place in the context of London. Read our publication with Renaisi, ‘What next for ‘place’ in the capital’s funding landscape?’ which explores the relevance of Place for London.
