Saboohi will lead London Funders’ new Resource Hub to support the growth of place based giving, a growing movement across London and beyond, which puts more funding and decision-making into the hands of local people.
There are active place based giving schemes in more than half of London’s boroughs, and since 2012, London Funders have supported these schemes to get off the ground and grow in strength. Under Saboohi’s leadership, the Resource Hub will take place based giving to an exciting new step, increasing our capacity to support this work across the capital, bringing new focus, energy and voices into the work.
Saboohi brings 23 years’ experience in the charitable sector amplifying the voices of the most marginalised and disadvantaged people and bringing them to the forefront of decision-making. Most recently Saboohi worked at London Funders member The Social Innovation Partnership (TSIP) where she led The Giving Lab, a codesigned community-led funding model using participatory, democratic and inclusive principles. The Lab brought together businesses, local governments and philanthropists to co-design, support and host funds and grassroots initiatives with local communities and people with lived experience of social issues. We’re hugely excited about all the learning Saboohi will bring to our work on place based change.
On starting her new role, Saboohi Bukhari said:
“This is such an exciting time to be joining London Funders, building on the strong foundations that have already been built across London’s Giving Network. With the amazing support of City Bridge Foundation, I’m excited and honoured to be working with the steering group and the wider place based giving network to develop the new chapter of its journey.
A vibrant network for sharing learning, a beacon of excellence in participative practice, and challenging and influencing the wider funding system are all high on the agenda for the Resource Hub and it will be critical to amplify community voices ensuring they are front and centre in this work.”
James Banks, CEO of London Funders said:
“Saboohi’s appointment comes after ten years of London Funders’ involvement in supporting place based giving across the capital. We’re so pleased that City Bridge Foundation has provided the platform to enable us to take this work to the next level. Saboohi’s previous leadership of successful, cross-sector collaborations, together with her passion for community led change, makes her an excellent person to lead the new Resource Hub. We're delighted to have her on board!”
We hope you’ll find the opportunity to meet Saboohi in her new role during the Festival of Learning (the Festival Finale will be a great place to connect and network with the team and fellow members!)
