About Havering Together
Havering Together is a new place-based giving scheme for Havering, established to mobilise local resources, strengthen community collaboration, and support grassroots initiatives that improve the lives of local residents.
With support from London's Giving, London Funders and the Greater London Authority (GLA), Havering Together has developed its strategic direction through a series of steering group meetings and planning sessions held between September 2024 and November 2025.
Our Priorities
Through this collaborative work, we have identified three key priorities:
- Community Cohesion: Create opportunities for residents to contribute to their communities through volunteering and local participation, with a particular focus on engaging young people and building stronger connections across diverse communities.
- Tackling Loneliness: Facilitate community listening sessions, deliver activities that respond to local needs, and develop mentoring and storytelling initiatives that help reduce isolation and strengthen social connections.
- Youth Opportunities: Work in partnership with local businesses and employers to improve access to employment, skills development and career opportunities for young people, helping to create a more inclusive local economy. This includes collaboration with the recently formed Thames Freeport, whose representatives sit on our interim board.
About the Role
Havering Together is in its early stages of development and is currently hosted by Barking and Dagenham Giving for payroll purposes. As part of this arrangement, we follow their best practice approach and offer a salary equivalent to a full-time role while working 28 hours per week.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and entrepreneurial leader to shape a new charitable organisation from its inception, develop sustainable funding partnerships, and make a lasting impact across Havering's communities.
