In 2018, IVAR and London Funders published a report looking at the key features of funders’ grant-making responses to the Grenfell Tower fire, the London Bridge and Borough Market attacks, and the Manchester Arena bomb.
In this report we propose a shared goal for funders, Trustees, managers and workers: community facing organisations in which staff and volunteers are resilient.
London Funders commissioned IVAR to look at key features and aspects of a range of funders’ grant-making responses to the Grenfell Tower fire, the London Bridge and Borough Market attacks and the Manchester Arena bomb. We found that across a number of the collaborative funds set up in response to the emergencies, funders stepped outside their normal practices in a range of different ways.
This report looks at the role of two key players – independent funders who are at the core of civil society and local government – and argues they need to come into much closer dialogue.
The Way Ahead is a joint initiative by civil society, public sector bodies and funders. The ultimate goals of the Way Ahead are a thriving civil society which is resilient, collaborative and sustainable and which will lead to improved outcomes for Londoners.
