Each year, place based giving schemes across London share their data and insights about their work and the difference this has made to their communities. This is part of the London’s Giving programme we deliver, alongside our learning partner Rocket Science. With support from the City Bridge Trust, we bring together the capital’s local schemes to share knowledge, network, and advocate for the role place based giving can play in the wider funding and civil society policy landscape.
This week we’re publishing a short learning report alongside some of the data schemes have shared, to help understand how place based giving is making a positive difference to our communities. As the report shows, we’ve seen the scale and impact grow over the years, with schemes distributing over £5m grants last year alone.
But place based giving is about much more than grant making: it is also about leveraging the many other assets within a local place and sharing this to strengthen what we do and how we do it. It is about being a platform for local voices and working inclusively to find solutions for local issues. It is about the power of collaboration: bringing new partners together to challenge, inspire and tackle inequalities within our communities.
We hope this year’s report will celebrate, inform and inspire others to get involved in this growing movement. If you don’t yet have a giving scheme in your borough, get in touch as London Funders can support you on this journey.
