Working together to tackle health inequalities in London
Chaired by Alice Casey, Director of Programmes at Maudsley Charity, and Shirin Shah, Portfolio Manager at Impact on Urban Health, the London Funders Health Inequalities Network will meet in person on Tuesday 22 September to explore how funders can work alongside public bodies and communities to tackle health inequalities, strengthen prevention and shape healthier outcomes across London.
We’ll hear from the GLA about the Mayor’s Health Inequalities Strategy, the development of the London Health Improvement Plan, and how the GLA works with partners including philanthropy and national government to tackle health inequalities. We’ll also be joined by Locality, who will share learning from the London Beacons and explore the challenge of sustainably funding community-led, preventative health work as London’s Neighbourhood Health Model develops.
To allow more time for a focused discussion we won’t have a general updates slot at this meeting. Members are very welcome to share reports, resources or organisational updates with us before or after the session, and we’ll include these in the follow-up summary circulated to the network. This will give us more space in the room to explore the opportunities, challenges and different roles funders can play in working collaboratively to address health inequalities across London.
