Serious Youth Violence Report Launch

09 May 2019
10am—1pm
St Andrews Youth Club - Alec Wizard House, 12 Old Pye St, Westminster, London SW1P 2DG
London Funders has published a report on serious youth violence which explores how funders can engage with this complex issue. Outlining the current context in London, 'To Begin at the Beginning' explores and builds on a series of principles developed by funders to support effective working in this area using case studies to illustrate how the principles are beginning to be realised. The report goes on to suggest a series of practical short term steps to maintain momentum before suggesting how funders can come together in the medium term with the aim of affecting long term change.
Attendees heard from Vicky Foxcroft MP (Chair of the Youth Violence Commission) on the context, policy environment and learning from the Commission. In addition, a panel discussion took place on the issues raised and work already underway across sectors to you violence. Lib Peck (Director, Violence Reduction Unit), Harriet Gugenheim (Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, Youth Endowment Fund), Jamel Fraser (Youth policy consultant) and Kate Markey (Chief Executive, London Community Foundation) all provided their perspectives.
