About the role
We are searching for a new Trustee to join our Board in January 2023 , with a specialist interest in and experience of finance and investing, who can support us to deliver the ambitions set out in relation to our Investment Policy and Strategy for 2022 25 . However, we expect our Trustees to be interested and engaged in all aspects of our governance and wider grantmaking, including our three funding categories of arts, social action and the environment.
Trustees meet six times per year for Board Meetings lasting half a day. Most Trustees are part of one or more of our sub
committees or working groups too, which meet less frequently. For this role, we are looking for a Trustee who can join our Finance and Investment Committee, which meets quarterly in February, May, September and November.
This is an exciting time to join us. 2022 is the first year of our new organisational strategy for 2022-25. Our strategy calls on us to deliver our work with 100% of our assets namely our grantmaking, our investing, our values and our organisational competencies, capabilities and assets. Our Trustees are directly involved in assessing grant applications across all three funding categories. With support from the
Grants Team, Trustees decide which grant applications proceed to the second stage and conduct in person or virtual visits at second stage, which Trustees then write up and present to the Board for decision. Trustees are paid to account for the time commitment this requires, which is expected to take on average around one to two days per month.
Our Trustees are passionate about the work that we do, and enjoy being part of a small, busy and effective organisation and B
oar d of Trustees. The successful candidate will be diligent, enjoy working with others and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience of being on a Board is desirable, but not essential. The total time commitment, including Board and committee meetings, averages three to four days per month, and so this role may not be suitable for someone in full time employment.
