About the role
Are you an experienced corporate leader with a passion for giving back? Would you
like to give your time and skills and in return gain experience in governance, strategy
and leadership?
HEAR is seeking a dynamic and visionary Trustee to join our Board. During this pivotal and exciting time, you will play a crucial role in shaping HEAR’s future, driving impactful change and ensuring long term success of its mission.
You will be required to attend 4 to 6 remote meetings a year.
HEAR is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (no. 1168591) with over a 1000 members; pan London, working within human rights, inequality and social justice. Its mission is to be a collective voice for those working with the most marginalised communities. HEAR looks to further expand its reach to grass root and lived experience with intersectional needs. HEAR supports member organisations through connections, sharing information, expertise, knowledge, events, research, networking, campaigns, and more recently, the exploration of technology for
mapping and information as well as digital inclusion.

Key responsibilities include:
- Governance and oversight of the organisations activities, finances and risk
- Strategic guidance in contributing to HEAR’s strategic goals and future plan.
- Income generation and advocacy-support income generation through diverse sources, including fundraising, product development, marketing and help raise the profile of HEAR’s work within the corporate sector and beyond.
- Leadership in collaborating with fellow board members and the executive team to help in decision making.
The ideal person would bring experience from the corporate sector and ideally have one or more of the following: corporate governance, board leadership, strategic and business planning, financial and risk management, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and philanthropy, income generation and stakeholder engagement. A passion for social justice and human rights and a commitment to social change is essential.
