Impact Manager - St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity

Salary:       £42,000

Contract:   Permanent

Deadline:    Sunday 13 November 2022 at 11.59pm

About the role

Are you an evidence-driven impact professional? This is an exciting and varied role developing and leading the monitoring, evaluation and learning functions of St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity. As an organisation that has grown considerably over the past eight years, you will play a pivotal role in developing a new monitoring, evaluation and learning strategy. You will be an expert in managing change and embedding best practice in the way we capture and measure impact. You will be able to problem solve and think strategically, a confident decision-maker and able to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently. You will be a self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude and high levels of emotional intelligence.

Main responsibilities

Monitoring

  • Develop and implement the systems needed to effectively monitor our work, working across our teams and with grantees where necessary
  • Ensure that we have the systems and processes in place to monitor the application of our Theory of Change, across our funding, programmes and influencing work
  • Lead regular reviews of our Theory of Change
  • Develop and implement internal systems for sharing information to inform fundraising and communications activities as well as programmes

Evaluation

  • Oversee the management and analysis of internal and external data to inform strategic decision making
  • Manage research activities and resources effectively to generate insight and demonstrate impact
  • Work with the Policy and Best Practice Manager to identify and share relevant learning externally, as part of our strategy to influence decision makers in the sector
  • Work alongside our Grants Manager to develop new grant programmes, ensuring they are informed by evidence
  • Produce regular reports for our trustees and support the fundraising team with reporting on outcomes and impact to our donors
  • Work alongside our Grants Manager to evaluate the impact of our funding, making suggestions for improvement where appropriate

Learning

  • Work closely with the Senior Management Team to play a key role in ensuring the organisation is data driven, evidence based and a learning organisation
  • Ensure that the experiences of frontline workers and people with lived experience of homelessness are fed into our monitoring, evaluation and learning strategy and the way we implement it
  • Implement systems that support the sharing of learning between our programmes, so that they are linked up and sharing relevant data

Other activities

  • Act as a first point of contact on our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) strategy both internally and externally
  • Engage with sector specific networks on MEL

This is not an exhaustive description of the job. Aspects will change over time and the job holder is expected to contribute to its development and progression.
