About the role
When you join us in this important role you’ll support the creation of a resilient Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), and develop a thorough understanding of the resources we allocate to local groups. Gathering information on the use of grants and the results they achieve, you’ll visit voluntary organisations to monitor their work, and produce briefings with summaries and recommendations on the health of the groups we fund.
You’ll identify both good and bad practice in local VCS organisations and support them to improve their performance, and work to create an independent and sustainable sector while maintaining a broad overview of the Council’s expenditure. We’ll also expect you to keep up-to-speed with the national and local agendas that affect the VCS, and highlight any areas that affect the sector’s ability to deliver outcomes that improve our residents’ lives.
You’ll have a number of additional responsibilities – these will involve coordinating partnerships between the funders who support the VCS’s work in our borough and leading a range of communication activities, including project managing events, and developing and maintaining engaging digital content. We’ll also expect you to explore new ways of working as you broker positive collaborations between colleagues in different areas of the Council.
