About the role
The Funding Officer is a key member of the Foundation’s team with responsibility for day-to-day grants application assessment, managing a portfolio of grants and supporting administration of the Foundation’s grantmaking processes and programmes. This includes assessing applications for funding, making recommendations and providing feedback on grant applications, managing relationships with applicants and grantees, reviewing progress reports and payment claims and monitoring and evaluating the impact of funded projects.
The Funding Officer will support the Funding Managers and wider Funding Team to ensure The Trust’s funding delivers against organisational strategic objectives, meets the needs of funded organisations/projects and maximises impact for beneficiaries.
The Foundation aims to inspire, encourage and champion participation and diversity in physical activity. The Funding Officer will support this aim by identifying exciting, impactful and strategically aligned funding opportunities, and developing funding recommendations for presentation to Trustees.
Reporting to a Funding Manager, the Funding Officer will manage day-to-day relationships with funded organisations and deliver an excellent quality of support and customer service. A confident communicator, the Funding Officer will be comfortable communicating with a wide variety of people, both internally and externally.
The Funding Manager will bring demonstrable experience of managing funding programmes and grants in a relevant role and/or sector. They will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, a methodical approach to work and a strong knowledge of grant making processes and best practice. They will be confident in shaping and developing guidance and resources to support applicants for funding and funded organisations. They will be experienced in using databases and in analysing financial information. Experience of using grantmaking databases and managing funding relationships are also desirable.
