The Funding Manager is a key member of the Foundation’s team with responsibility for day-to-day management of grants, funding programmes and funding partnerships. They will support the Senior Grants Manager and Head of Funding to ensure the Foundation’s funding is delivering against London Marathon Group strategic objectives.
The Foundation aims to inspire, encourage and champion participation and diversity in physical activity. The Funding Manager will support this aim by identifying exciting, impactful and strategically aligned funding opportunities, and developing funding proposals for presentation to Trustees.
Reporting to the Senior Funding Manager, and working closely with the Partnerships & Engagement Manager and the Impact & Learning Manager, the Funding Manager will lead on the management of grants, and help to design and deliver new funding initiatives, programmes and approaches. This will include the development of new partnerships and networks which help us to reach and inspire activity amongst children and young people and underserved communities, as well as managing a portion of the Foundation’s existing portfolio of programmes, partnerships and grants.
The Funding Manager will line manage the Funding Officer and work closely with the Data & Administration Officer and wider team to deliver high quality grant-making in line with the Foundation’s funding commitments (Flexible, Open, Trusting, Inclusive, Relational).
An experienced funding professional, the Funding Manager will work closely with the Impact & Learning Manager to monitor, evaluate and assess the impact of funding against the Foundation’s funding outcomes and strategic objectives.
The Funding Manager will bring demonstrable experience of managing funding programmes and grants in a relevant role and/or sector. They will have good professional networks and a strong knowledge of best practice approaches used by funders and charities. They will have the ability to horizon-scan for relevant funding needs and opportunities, and to identify networks and develop partnerships which support the delivery of the Foundation’s funding outcomes and strategic objectives.
They will be comfortable communicating well with colleagues across London Marathon Group, as well as with Trustees, external partners and stakeholders.
They must demonstrate a commitment to the London Marathon Group’s vision of ‘Inspiring Activity', and to the values of the London Marathon Group. They will demonstrate a deep and genuine commitment to improving society, and to the health and wellbeing outcomes of the most disadvantaged people in communities in London and beyond.
