Chair Vacancy - 360Giving

Terms of appointment:   

Initial term of three years with option to be extended by a further three years - with a maximum term of office of six years as a Trustee, in line with the Articles of Association.

Commitment:                    

The Chair is expected to be able to dedicate 2-3 days a month to the role, including preparation for and attendance at Board meetings

Remuneration:       

The role of Trustee is voluntary (unpaid), but reasonable expenses – such as travel and childcare – will be paid.

About the role 

  • The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.
  • The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, compassionately challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a cohesive team and works closely alongside the Chief Executive and the entire Executive of the charity to achieve agreed objectives.
  • The Chair will act as an ambassador and public face of the charity, in partnership with the Chief Executive. They will help shape strategy and will need to have the networking skills and connections to progress that strategy.
  • The Chair of Trustees is responsible for running board meetings, determining the agenda with the Chief Executive, and ensuring that meetings are productive and effective, allowing all Trustees the opportunity to participate fully in discussions, dealing with disputes amongst the Trustees sensitively but assertively.
