Join us on 1 October from 10-11.30am for an online session to explore the various ways in which value for money can be understood and measured by funders.
Value for money can mean very different things, from simple questions about cost and reach to cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit analysis and social value. This session will help funders consider what is proportionate when analysing their own activity, setting expectations for grant holders, or interpreting claims made by applicants.
This is an open learning space and no prior experience or knowledge about value for money is required.
Speakers The session will be facilitated by our Research & Evaluation Network chairs Oliver Carrington and Dina Papamichael, and we will hear from two value for money experts: · Ciaran McDonald is the Head of Evaluation and Impact at Rocket Science, a business with a social purpose, working to tackle inequalities in pursuit of a healthier, fairer, more inclusive society for all. Ciaran is an expert in quantitative impact practice and value for money. · Lorna Leach is a charity leader with more than 20 years of experience working across physical activity, community development, health, education, and social impact. Lorna works at Social Value Engine, a social value platform that uses social return on investment methodology to value outcomes, not just outputs. We will also hear from Daniel Orrego, Learning Manager from Funders Together who will introduce the recently launched Advancing Equity Learning Library, a new online resource designed to help funders and civil society organisations develop more equitable approaches to grant making.
