Mayor's role in philanthropy - meeting for funders

09 Oct 2018
10am—12pm
314-340 Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8DP
Hot on the heels of Centre for London's recent report on giving in London (“More, Better, Together…”) we now have the publication of the independent review of philanthropy in London commissioned by the Mayor of London, and completed by our member Rocket Science – seeking to answer the question “What is the role of the Mayor and Greater London Authority in enabling civic philanthropy?”.
The report “Harnessing the capital’s giving” makes recommendations that aim to improve the effectiveness of private, particularly business, giving in working alongside statutory and charitable resources to tackle London’s rising needs.  The GLA are now considering the report, and a response is expected next month.
Many of our members contributed to the review through focus groups and surveys, and this meeting was held so that funders could discuss their thoughts on the recommendations with the team from City Hall.
