Collaboration is at the heart of successful place-based giving. No one can deny that collaboration brings benefits. but it also does have its challenges. Drivers that make for cross-sectorial collaboration are often economic, as there is a need for a greater collective voice and growing recognition is emerging that in tough times there are no single sector solutions.
At its root collaborative working is a social activity founded on common values such as generosity, sharing and openness. Coming together is the start but staying together is the challenge. Developing a new organisational culture which is greater than the sum of the parts is vital. Collaborative working can be tricky and the need for ground rules which underpin the collaboration are vital.

In our collaboration and co-production masterclass attendees found out more about MoUs and protocols and how they can apply to place-based giving. This is as well an abundance of tips and advice on how to get collaborative working off the ground.
