Friday 29th April 2016 10am-12pm at London Funders

The April 29th Unlocking Assets network meeting at London Funders hosted two innovative presentations from Ubele and Power to Change:

Ubele Initiative- A Place to Call Home
The presentation by Yvonne Field (Founder of the Ubele Initiative) highlighted some of the key findings of a new national report entitled 'A Place to Call Home'.

The report is the first major output from Project Mali which focuses on the development of African Diaspora community assets (people and spaces).

Yvonne also outlined some of the key activities which the Ubele Initiative has undertaken during 2015-16.

The Power to Change- Community Business Fund
David Chater (Head of Community Business Funds at The Power to Change) talked about The Power to Change’s new Community Business Fund launching at the end of April. This will provide £10 million over the 12 months from April to support community businesses to grow and become more sustainable.

In addition, Dot Zacharias (Head of Regional and Local Investment at Power to Change) shared her initial thoughts for Power to Change’s place-based funding strategy. Over the next five years they will be investing in up to 10 places in England with the aim of demonstrating that community business is an effective tool for transforming places.
