With the range of changes taking place in local authorities and the implications for funders in terms of safeguarding children and young people, we invited Finola Culbert the Assistant Director in the London Borough of Ealing for Children’s Services who leads Safeguarding to present. Finola sits on the London Safeguarding Board and she gave an overview of the current safeguarding situation for children’s services, looking at referral thresholds, the role of the multi agency safeguarding hubs (MASH) , key regional safeguarding priorities and what some of the challenges may be for the voluntary sector in the future and how they need to respond.
Sharon Long gave an update on the new resources available from Safe Network to support voluntary sector groups around their safeguarding practices.
The third item on the agenda was to hear about the Child Sexual Exploitation Funders' Alliance (CSEFA).
