Research and Evaluation meeting - 6th October 2015
The meeting report is available.
We heard from two speakers on the topic ofSupporting Grantee Impact Measurement. There was also time for open discussion within the group:
Charities Evaluation Service (CES)
Over the last 25 years, CES has worked with thousands of organisations to help them to better demonstrate the difference their work makes, learn and improve their work. In particular, we have supported grantees and commissioned organisations to develop their outcome and impact assessment systems so that they can better report to funders and commissioners. We have also worked directly with funders to develop their own capacity in outcomes and impact assessment so that they too can demonstrate the extent to which their money has made a difference. In this session participants will be able to share their learning about how best to embed monitoring and evaluation practice and to discuss the challenges they have experienced (or anticipate) along the way.
Trust for London and TSIP/ Project Oracle
Project Oracle/The Social Innovation Partnership were commissioned by Trust for London to provide bespoke evaluation support to 5 community organisations piloting new approaches to addressing issues affecting young people. The support was provided throughout the duration of the grant, and included: training in Theory of Change and evaluation planning; research placements to provide practical support in data collection; insight sessions to share learning with others; and drop in sessions and one-to-one support. This will be an opportunity to get an honest appraisal of what we have learned from providing this type of indepth support, insights into what worked well and less well, and some lessons for the future for both funders and evaluation support organisations.
