London Funders 2014 to 2017 Strategy Consultation

Following a consultation period with membership and key stakeholders, the London Funders 2014 to 2017 strategy has been approved and is available here.

I am pleased to share with you our 2014 to 2017 strategy

Our  strategy has been developed by the Committee over the last six months, and their deliberations have been informed not just by their own knowledge of the challenges and issues facing funders in London, but also by feedback from numerous other organisation and stakeholders. In order to consult with our members and gain feedback. we produced a survey which, as well as asking for views on our new strategy, also provided an opportunity to gather general feedback on member experiences. This consultation ended on 21st March and the resuts of this survey can be found here.

The feedback from the consultation was presented to the Committee at its April meeting, where the strategy was formally approved.

We would like to thank all those who contributed to the survey and consultation. It is very pleasing to see that the thinking of London Funders Executive Committee and team is reflected by our membership.

Over the last 18 years London Funders has developed from an informal group of funders of the voluntary and community sector in London, into a respected and influential membership network of funders and investors in London’s civil society and citizenship.

As our new strategy says, “ London is a complex city and its funding landscape is changing dramatically. This change is being driven by a combination of factors including the redefining of the role of the state (both national and local), the changing profile of poverty and the needs of the population within London, and the increasingly complex governance and public policy landscape that our members operate within.”

Never has London, and Londoners, needed London Funders as today.

The strategy builds on our current strength  – that of being a safe place for funders to think, share and learn –to further develop London Funders into a network that is greater than the sum of its parts, which promotes effective funding, that facilitates and enables collaboration and partnerships, and enables us to use the knowledge and expertise of our members to actively inform policy debates. At the heart of all that we do is strengthening and supporting our members to meet the needs of Londoners.

Finally, can I thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like to discuss London Funders' plans, and give us any feedback or suggestions on how we can best support you, we would be happy to hear from you.

Best wishes,

David Warner
